Director of Development
The Laura Flanders Show
Salary: $60,000-$80,000
Status: Full Or Part Time

We’re looking for an experienced fundraiser who is passionate about progressive issues, believes in the vitality of independent journalism, and wants to uplift voices from marginalized communities. Your role will be to devise and execute fundraising strategies in order to build our donor base, increase foundation support, and streamline our internal fundraising processes.

The Laura Flanders Show brings in-depth discussion about racial, gender, economic, and environmental justice to national public television and radio every week. Hosted by award-winning social movement reporter and queer feminist author Laura Flanders, the show features in-studio interviews with forward thinking people —from AOC to Xiuhtezcatl to Rep. Jamie Raskin to Laverne Cox—and field reporting on cutting-edge topics. The show is nationally syndicated on public TV, reaching nearly 300 PBS stations, including in every major US media market. We also produce the show for radio and as a podcast.

Full time preferred, but we’re open to creative solutions that could make this a part time position as long as our development needs are met. Full-time salary range is approximately $60–80k.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Stewardship: Manage outreach and ongoing relationships with donors; produce regular mission-based newsletter; develop plans for long-term development of major donors
  • Foundations: Manage relationships with foundations, including reporting and re-applying; seek out and apply for new grants
  • Data management: implement new internal processes for data management; maintain CRM database; manage gift reporting and correspondence; develop ongoing data-driven reports for the board and leadership.
  • Fundraising drives: Organize large fundraisers in May and December, as well as smaller fundraisers in spring and fall — work will include promotion of fundraising efforts (working in collaboration with our communications team) and engaging board members in planning and execution.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with fundraising or nonprofit management; familiarity with independent journalism or progressive issues a plus.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with conversion tracking.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Ability to use and manage various web-based communication tools, in order to engage our audience; for instance: Mailchimp, social media platforms, WordPress, Google Ads, etc.

What We Offer:

  • Full or part time.
  • Remote staff position, with 24-hour access to shared work facilities in New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC.
  • Paid time off and sick days.
